By God’s grace, and through the efforts of our prayer supporters, volunteers, and donors like you, our 2009 Arizona FCA summer camp was a huge success.
The number of athletes at camp, the quality of our coaches and volunteers, and the response to the gospel has exceeded all of our expectations. This year’s summer camp was hosted, once again, at NAU in Flagstaff, AZ. It was the perfect setting for 8 incredible sports camps where athletes were challenged physically and mentally in their sport during two practice sessions each day.
Each practice concluded with a “Winner’s Circle” testimony by one of our coaches or huddle leaders. Our small group counselors, called “huddle leaders”, did an amazing job of relating to the athletes in their sport and building relationships that opened doors for great discussions about the devotions and the guest speaker.
Our evening speakers included East Valley Bible Church Youth Pastor Ricardo Stewart, Arizona State FCA Director Mike Sanfratello, and FCA Staff member and Cardinals Chaplain Chad Johnson. All three of these speakers were well received by the athletes. Their messages engaged the athletes, challenged their perceptions, and encouraged their hearts. God provided an excellent camp this year, and we are grateful.
Our Camp theme was “Inside Out – Change Your Game.” This theme was based on Romans 12:2, “Do not be conformed to this age, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may discern what is the good, pleasing, and perfect will of God.”
