Redirect your tax dollars towards FCA scholarships

for athletes in the metro Phoenix and south Tucson communities

Will you have an Arizona State Tax liability that you will have to pay when you file your taxes in 2009?

If the answer is yes – a donation to the

Fellowship of Christian Athletes can help lessen your

Arizona State Tax Liability.

Who can receive the tax credit?

The Arizona Fellowship of Christian Athletes is a qualified agency to receive Arizona Charitable Tax Credit for Working Poor under ARS 1088.  We are a charitable organization that is exempt from federal income taxes under section 501(c)(3).

List of qualified charities: www.revenue.state.az.us/Refunds%20and%20Credits/certifiedcharities.pdf

What is the difference between a tax credit and a tax deduction?

The difference between a tax credit and a tax deduction is that a tax deduction is an item that helps calculate what your final tax bill will be.  A tax credit is applied as a reduction to your final tax bill.  In this case, the tax credit comes right off the top of your state tax bill, lowering the amount of money you the taxpayer must pay.

More information on the tax credit: www.revenue.state.az.us/brochure/710.pdf

How much can I give?

The maximum amount of a tax credit donation under ARS 1088 a donor can give is:

  • $200 for a single individual or an individual filing head of household
  • $400 for a couple married filing jointly.

If a donor needs to reduce their Arizona State Tax Liability by a substantial amount they are able to take all three tax credits:

  • Arizona Charitable Tax Credit for the Working Poor (ARS 43-1088)
  • Public School Tax Credit
  • Private School Tuition Credit

Who does your tax credit donation help?

The Fellowship of Christian Athletes has a tax credit scholarship fund for summer camps.  Inner-city athletes from the metro-Phoenix and south Tucson communities are given financial assistance to attend FCA Summer Sports Camps.

In 2008, FCA received $16,000 in tax credit donations that helped over 75 kids from Arizona attend an FCA Summer Sports Camp.

In 2010 our goal is to raise $40,000 in scholarships through this program.  Can you help?
